I am a special education professional licensed in Ohio (OU1017411). My passion for building on individual strengths and interests to lay a foundation for learning at any age was born at seventeen when I volunteered to work with struggling students in a first grade classroom. It has carried me through a lengthy career in both public and private education where I have worked with students from pre-K to university. It has included those with specific learning disabilities, cognitive delays, ADD/ADHD, behavioral needs, and multiple handicaps as well as those on the autism spectrum and has become very personal to me with the birth of our first grandchild who was diagnosed with Williams syndrome as an infant.
Since 2013, I have worked directly with parents and students with special needs to help them secure a quality education that honors the individual. This has included guidance in identifying areas of strength and need, assistance in goal setting, and the development of successful learning strategies and working environments to support them. I have conducted seminars for families and schools and enjoy acting as a liaison to bring parents, students, and teaching professionals together to build a cohesive team. I look forward to extending these roles as an independent contractor with Monarch Counseling.
